The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu has warned ruffians hiding under the banner of EndSARS protest to foment trouble to desist from the act, as he had uncovered their new plans and his men are curtailing them.
This was contained in an official statements issued by the command and signed by the Oyo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Gbenga Fadeyi on behalf of the Commissioner and made available to PMParrot in Ibadan where the CP appreciated all those who have been carrying out the protest within the ambience of the law.
“Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, psc wishes to state that since the commencement of the protest on ‘EndSARS’ the Command has been cooperating with the youths who have been protesting in Oyo State. Also, he wishes to appreciate all those who have been carrying out the protest within the ambience of the law”, the statement reads in part.
But, the Commissioner further stated that the protest is taking a new dimension as protesters are mapping out new strategies to carry out coordinated attacks on innocent citizens, Police stations and personnel.
“And as a result of this, the CP therefore enjoins parents and guardians, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders, leaders of thought and others to talk to their wards to desist from such act(s) that can be inimical to our corporate interest”.
He stated further that the Command is battle ready to curtail their excesses and will not fold our arms and allow disgruntled elements and social miscreants to capitalize on the situation to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens, noting that there are proper ways to channel their grievances.
The CP, however, assures the good people of Oyo State to go about their lawful businesses without fear or molestations as adequate security measures have been emplaced for maximum safety of all and sundry.
