Commercial activities were paralyzed in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Friday as thousands of youths gathered at the popular Challenge roundabout putting the entire city on lockdown.

The EndSARS Protesters who barricaded the major road leading to Molete, Iwo road, Ring road axis of the state were seen carrying placards with different inscription as they blocked the expressway causing gridlock. It was gathered that some of the protesters observed the Friday Juma’at prayers at the Challenge roundabout during the protest.

The protest was in continuation of the nationwide demonstration against police brutality and abuse of human rights by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Some of the protesters were seen chanting “End SARS, End SWAT”. One of the protesters at the Ring road axis said banning SARS is not enough but a total overhaul of the Nigeria Police Force.

A mild drama ensued at SHOPRITE Ring Road as protesters attempted to seize the gate and cart away loots before they were disarmed by the security agents guarding the entrance.

There have been protests in most part of the country since last week by Nigerian youths who called for the disbandment of SARS as a result of gross abuse of the fundamental human rights of Nigerians.
