Engr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State has promised to take responsibility for the conduct and misconduct of the State’s Security Network code-named Amotekun’s recruited personnel.
The governor made the promise during the security stakeholders’ meeting held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, the capital city of the state.
The meeting was as a result of ongoing violence across the state occasioned by ENDSARS protests in the country.
Makinde expressed that 1500 personnel that have been recruited will commence their full training programmes in the first week in November, which will last until November 15th, this year.
The governor explained that the Amotekun personnel will work in connection with the police, however, will report directly back to him.
Makinde assured that he is ready to take full responsibility for the actions and inactions of the personnel when they commence operation.
It will be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde appointed retired General Ajibola Kunle Togun and retired Colonel Olayanju Olayinka as Director General and Commandant of the state Security Network, Amotekun in May this year.
Their function is to oversee the state’s security outfit which was put in place to check insecurity in the state.
