- ‘He’s Indeed A Great Man’
As prominent Nigerians continue to shower encomiums on the former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary, an APC stalwart in the state and philanthropist, Dr. Fola Akinosun has described him as a true beneficiary of God’s grace.
Dr. Akinosun, an educationist stated this at the presentation of the biography, Amazing Grace of the former governor at the Trenchard hall of the University of Ibadan.
He disclosed that the title of the book, Amazing Grace truly represented the true picture and life story of the author.
“Indeed, the tittle Amazing Grace shows that Akala has enjoyed the Amazing grace of God. I equally pray to enjoy such grace in my life. Many people of such caliber till date do not have initiatives like this. If you go through the content of the book you will see that Akala has enjoyed a divine backing, going through his experience as police officer, local government chairman, Deputy Governor and Governor. He is a divine favourite.”
Dr. Akinosun, who is a grassroots politician noted that the book is recommendable for not only politicians but for scholars in various disciplines.
“As it has been rightly observed by other speakers including the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, I agree that this book should be recommended for students of politics and others. It is a good book which explores the dynamics of politics and associated pains and gains. When you read the story of the likes of Alao-Akala, you would have an insight into some history and intricacies of Oyo State politics. It is an evergreen piece which I would love to read over and over.”
Dr. Akinosun, the Agba Akin of Iroko Land, congratulated Chief Alao-Akala for the initiative on the publication, noting that the caliber of personalities at the book launch was a signal to the fact that the author was visionary and purposeful.
“First class Obas are here seated, top government functionaries and reputable politicians are all here because of one man, no doubt in my mind, Alao-Akala is a great man”.
Dr. Fola Akinosun, however, encouraged other eminent Nigerians who have made marks on the nation’s political history at any period to always endeavour to document their activities in order to guide the younger generations on decision making.
