The Oyo State Joint Security Task Force (Operation Burst) has opened and commissioned a center to receive distress calls and boost security awareness in Ibadan especially during this festive season.

The commissioning was held at the headquarters of the security outfit located at Agodi on Thursday.

The state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. AbdulMojeed Mogbojubola, expressed his determination to ensure that lives and properties of residents and citizens of Oyo State are protected.

Hon. Mogbojubola disclosed that the governor has made security as one of the cardinal points of his administration and that Governor Seyi Makinde is making sure that necessary machineries and assistance are put in place to ensure that personnel and officers of Operation Burst and other sister security outfits perform to the optimum levels.

He revealed that the call center will go a long way in assisting the general public to alert the Operation Burst of happenings in the environment as regards security by putting calls through to the center which will in turn alert its men and officers for quick response.

According to the Deputy Chief of Staff, “It is a plus to Oyo State and the government of Engr. Seyi Makinde. As you know that the four cardinal points of the present administration include health, security, increasing business and economy through agriculture and education. This will help in the containment of criminal activities in the state because people find it difficult to get information across to the Operation Burst but now, this will solve the problem of information gap between the general public and the security outfit.”

The Director General, Operation Burst, Colonel James Ajibola Oladipo (rtd), expressed the readiness of the outfit to contain criminals and criminal activities in Oyo State.

“On the issue of distress calls across Ibadan, Operation Burst will be on top of the game because we are the vanguard of the security architecture in the state. We will not relent in our efforts to wipe out criminality, we will not relent in getting rid of hoodlums and miscreants, we are here to serve and we will do it in the interest of the state because we have the backing of His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde,” Operation Burst disclosed.

He maintained that the security outfit will provide adequate security to protect lives and property before, during and after the festival period.
