Retirees’ Well-Being Remains Our Priority – Fayemi

Dr Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State has vouchsafed that his administration will continue to accord priority to the well-being of retirees.

Dr Kayode Fayemi said this in Ado at the sod-turning ceremony of the Office Complex and Recreation Centre of the Ekiti State Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries.

The Governor who was represented at the occasion by the Ekiti State Head of Service, Mrs. ‘Peju Babafemi, commended the efforts of the Association on the project stressing that it would foster more cordial relationship among members and provide the forum a place for regular interactions.

The Governor noted that the project will also be of immense benefit to officers who are still in service and those that are coming thereafter.

The former Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi in his goodwill message also congratulated the entire members of the Association and expressed appreciation to them for embarking on the project notwithstanding that they are no longer in active service.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Building Committee, Alhaji Yakubu Sanni stated that completion of the building would solve the current challenge encountered by the Association on getting befitting spaces for its activities.

The Chairman of the Association of the Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries in Ekiti State, Chief Abiodun Ajayi stated that the decision to put up the structure was borne out of the collective desire to have a befitting Secretariat Complex that will also serve as Recreational Centre.

“The benefits of recreation cannot be overemphasized considering the fact that recreation promotes healthy living with assured fitness that reduces exposure to certain indignities of old age.  Recreation also improves and promotes vertical and horizontal relationships, this edifice becomes imperative especially at a time that we need more than ever before, the bond required to knit us together as one big family”. Chief Ajayi said.

The Chairman commended the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his personal donations to the Association for the purchase of the land to build the Office Complex. He said that the project was estimated to cost fifty million Naira (N50m) to accommodate offices, EXCO Hall, Multipurpose Hall, Games Hall, GYM, Restaurant and four suites.
