The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.  Funminiyi Afuye, has mourned the death of a former assembly member, Hon Yomi Daramola, describing it as a loss to the entire State.

The Speaker in a press release signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, stated that the news of Hon Daramola’s death came to him as a rude shock.

Late Hon Daramola who hailed from Ikere Ekiti Constituency 1, same constituency with Hon Afuye served in the fourth Assembly.

“To say that Ikere community and Ekiti State as a whole will miss Yomi Daramola is an understatement,” Afuye said.

The Speaker described the late lawmaker as a very humble politician who would not hurt a fly. He therefore, commiserated with the family that Daramola left behind, praying that “the good Lord will give all of us the fortitude to bear this huge loss.”

The Speaker announced that the State House of Assembly which is currently on recess shall converge on Friday 15, 2021 to hold a special plenary session for their departed colleague. He noted that “the former lawmaker deserves our last respect because ever since he left the Assembly in 2015, he never dragged its name in the mud.”

He urged the family to accept their breadwinner’s demise with fortitude. “The Bible says; the righteous is taken away before the evil day. He left a good legacy behind”.
