Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Samuel Chukwueze is excited after he underwent surgery by Doctor Ulrike Muschaweck in Munich on Thursday morning.
The medical procedure was to definitively relieve him of discomfort in his groin.
The Nigeria international has not figured for the Yellow Submarine since the 4-0 win against Celta Vigo on January 8, missing six games combined in La Liga and Copa del Rey.
According to Villarreal’s official website, it was initially decided by Villarreal’s medical team to carry out a conservative treatment but eventually the winger had to go under the knife.
Chuwkueze was treated by groin specialist Muschaweck, who previously operated on Premier League legends, Alan Shearer, Michael Owen and Xabi Alonso.
Villarreal have given no time from on Chukwueze’s recovery, however, Spanish sports daily Marca has estimated that the Super Eagle faces a minimum of one month on the sidelines if there are no complications.
And if that is confirmed, it would be a massive blow to the Super Eagles given his importance to the national team; Gernot Rohr’s side face Benin and Lesotho in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.
In the current season, Chukwueze has played 22 games in all competitions for Villarreal, scoring two goals and setting up five others.
