The Kwara State Government has promised to support the maiden Kwara Beach Soccer women’s competition scheduled for April in Ilorin, the state’s capital.
The deputy governor, Kayode Alabi said this in Ilorin on Tuesday while receiving the leadership of the Kwara State Beach Soccer association in his office.
Alabi who commended the initiative of the Beach Soccer Association for proposing to stage a women’s championship, said the Kwara State government will not relent in engaging youths positively by providing enabling environment for sports development.
He said the state government is ready to host HandBall Championship in March and other major competitions in future in attempt to further showcase the improved sports facilities in the state as funded by the present administration.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Kwara State Beach Soccer Association, Alhaji Debo Adedeji applauded the government for embarking on massive sports infrastructural development across the state noting that the gesture has widely opened the state into the world map as a hub of sports.
Adedeji who solicited for the support of the state government towards a hitch free Beach Soccer Championship in April informed the deputy governor that Kwara is among the seven states in the country playing beach soccer.
