Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has commenced road side grass cutting and overgrown hedges and trees as part of efforts at ensuring safety on the road.
The Director General of the Ekiti State Public Works Corporation, Mr Sunday Awoyomi made this known while monitoring work at Akannasan Area, between Ado and Iyin Ekiti.
Mr Awoyomi said that the State Public Works Corporation embarked clearing of road verges for road safety reasons, noting that the Akannasan area was notorious for incessant motor accidents and all hands must be on deck to stem the ugly trend.
Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the safety of lives and property of people in the state, Awoyomi said his corporation would also ensure that there would be continuous filling of potholes to ensure smooth roads in the state.
He called for the support of the people in efforts to develop the state, stressing the need for motorists to exercise patience and obey traffic diversions signs erected as a result of maintenance works on the roads.
Awoyomi also assured that the maintenance works would be completed as soon as possible to limit the inconveniences to road users.
