Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, the Postmaster General of the Federation and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has said that despite operating within the grassroot nationwide, no report of attack has been sent in by his workers.

Adewusi disclosed this while chatting with PMParrot on Monday at the venue of NIPOST’s Board/Management Retreat at Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

Adewusi explained further that all NIPOST workers have been sensitized on the need to be watchful and vigilant at all times while carrying out their lawful duties.

The Eruwa-born politician explained further “you see, most of our workers are residents of where they operate. This means they understand the terrain. We are in all the local government areas throughout Nigeria. It is sad that we have insecurity threatening all of us but our workers have so far not had bad experience.

Adewusi also confirmed that NIPOST is putting all arrangements in place to establish Micro finance banks.

“Financial inclusion is important to the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari. So, the processes that will see us carrying out this assignment are ongoing.”

Adewusi also used the opportunity to appreciate the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim (PANTAMI).

His words, “Dr Ibrahim’s whose doggedness and forthrightness has ensured that our organization was not unjustly treated in the battle on adhesive postage stamps, that saw some forces hell-bent on emasculating NIPOST and its statutory role of producing stamps for the use to denote documents”.

In her own submissions, the Chairman of NIPOST’s governing board/management, Barrister Maimuna Yaya Abubakar spoke about how workers of the parastatal will be encouraged to love what they do.

She asked “how do we empower our employees to be able to learn a new skillset, to understand our vision and accomplish organizational goals? How do we get them to reach new targets, efficiently meet customers’ needs and demands, and most importantly develop new and innovative products?

She added that “the future of NIPOST depends on the amount of creativity our employees bring to the table on daily basis: for without innovation NIPOST cannot compete and if we cannot compete in the 21st Century then NIPOST’s place in the dust bin of history is most assured.

“We must bear in mind as we proceed that any organizational strategic plan we may develop here that doesn’t have employee welfare at its core or does not aim to keep our employees extrinsically and intrinsically motivated is doomed to fail from day one”.
