Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu celebrated the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Folake Solanke, on the eve of her 89th birthday on Sunday.
This is even as the Governor joined other eminent legal professionals, particularly, Lawyers at the law firm of Olujimi & Akeredolu at an evening of Grand Celebration to honour six members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan branch who were recently elevated into the prestigious status of Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN.
The honourees who included Professor Oyelowo Oyewo, (SAN), Mrs Funmi Quadri (SAN), Nureini Soladoye Jimoh, (SAN), Oluwaseun Abimbola, (SAN), Aare Isiaka Olagunju, (SAN) and Musibau Adetunbi, (SAN) were among the Seventy-two lawyers who were admitted into the Inner Bar by the Supreme Court’s Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) late last year.
In his toast, Governor Akeredolu who is the Patron of Ibadan Branch of NBA, described the six honourees as great men and women who have served the bar with their might.
While wishing them continued exploits in law practice, the Governor enjoined the honourees to continue to remain on the side of law and justice.
A co-partner of Olujimi & Akeredolu who is a former Attorney General of the Federation & Honourable Minister of Justice, Chief Akinlolu Olujimi,SAN, said the calling of the honourees into the inner bar put greater responsibilities on their shoulders and as such must live to the expectations of their respective callings.
