The spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party in the Southwest, Chief Sanya Atofarati has cautioned the former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose to stop his media war against the newly elected executives of the party in the Southwest.
Atofarati made this known while interacting with PMParrot on Thursday, while urging faithful party leaders in the zone to prevail on Fayose to sheath his sword and act according to the promises made at the congress held in Osogbo, where he publicly acknowledged the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde as the leader of the party in the zone.
According to Atofarati, “I will appeal to Mr. Fayose to sheath his sword and allow peace to reign in the party. If he has promised that he would align with whatever outcome of the election, he should hold on to his words so that Nigerians will trust him.
“He has no reason whatsoever to discredit such a credible election. The election was a very transparent one. Don’t forget that he was the one who requested that the venue should be changed from Oyo State to a neutral venue”.
Atofarati, however, cautioned the All Progressive Congress (APC) to stop meddling in the internal affairs of the PDP while sounding a strong warning to the APC Southwest Publicity Secretary to stop hiding behind the diverse interests within the PDP to be throwing banters capable of further dividing and inciting members of the party in the geopolitical zone.
He, however, expressed optimism over the readiness of the Amb. Taofeek Arapaja-led executives to unite and reconcile every aggrieved member of the party. He urged members not to allow the APC to continue fanning the embers of discord and disaffections within the party.
The party chieftain also advised Mr. Fayose to act like an elder statesman and ensure he embarks on a genuine reconciliation with Engr. Seyi Makinde and the Arapaja-led Southwest PDP executives while urging the former Governor to put his grievances behind him and throw his sincere support behind the newly elected executive team.
He urged party members to join hands with the newly elected Southwest PDP leaders to chase away the directionless government of the APC from the zone and the country while lamenting bitterly how Nigerians are now tired of the APC government and are seriously yearning that the PDP should be voted back to power.
