Nigeria international, Paul Onuachu wants to add the Belgian FA Cup to his medal collection as Genk prepare to take on Standard Liege in the final on Sunday.

Onuachu won the Danish League twice and the Danish Cup with Midtjylland during his seven-year spell at the club.

The 26-year-old Nigeria international, top scorer in Belgium’s topflight this season, but a goal shy of equaling Wesley Sonck’s 30 league goals record in a season, is keen to win the final but thinks Standard Liege will provide strong competition for his team.

Onuachu netted a brace in Genk’s 3-2 loss on Saturday to finish with 29 goals in 33 games.

He has 31 goals in 35 games across all competitions.

“It is one of the targets at the start of the season, the Belgian FA Cup,” Onuachu told The PUNCH.

“I’m in my second year with Genk and I want to win this title.

“We know it is a fight against Standard Liege; we shared the points in the two games we played in the league this season.

“You never know what’s going to happen. We will all give everything until the end to try to win the FA Cup.”

The Super Eagles striker insisted he did not play to reach the record Saturday night at Antwerp.

“I was not doing that at all today (Saturday),” he told Het Belang Van Limburg.

“I played for the team and tried to use my qualities for them.

“Getting two goals that worked well but unfortunately it was not enough for a win and second place (for Genk).”

Genk finished third in the Belgian Jupiler League behind Club Brugge and Royal Antwerp in the regular season.
