The Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Mrs. Iyabo Fakunle Okieimen has announced that the May edition of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise would hold will hold on Saturday 29th May, 2021 between the hours of 7am-10am.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the Commissioner stated that there would be restriction of movements during the exercise.
She charged the general public to clean their environment during the exercise, particularly in view of the prevailing covid-19 global pandemic.
The Commissioner also urged residents and shop owners to clean up and excavate the drainages in front of their buildings and dump their refuse properly.
She warned the general public especially commercial motorcyclists, market women and motorists not to violate the rules of the exercise as nobody should open the markets or move around until 10am, stressing that whoever contravenes the exercise would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.
Mrs. Okieimen directed all government workers to clean the environment of their offices on Friday 28th, 2021 before leaving for the weekend.
