Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has expressed delight after being named Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam’s Player of The Season.
Okoye was named the winner of the award in a vote conducted among Rotterdam fans on the club’s website.
“Supporters of Sparta Rotterdam were given the opportunity to vote for their Player of the Season, an election that was won by Maduka Okoye,” Rotterdam wrote on their website.
Okoye, who joined Rotterdam on a two-year-deal from German side Fortuna Dusseldorf last July, played 28 league games in the Dutch Eredivisie in the 2020/2 season.
He was able to garner 10 clean sheets in the season, conceding 35 goals.
“Happy to have been voted as your Player of the Season,” Okoye wrote on Instagram.
