English Premier League new boys, Brentford are in the process of obtaining a work permit for Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka which would pave the way for him to move to England.
Onyeka, who made his debut with the Nigeria national team in a friendly 1-0 loss to Algeria on 9 October 2020, is likely to be issued a work permit based on the new rules post-Brexit, having featured in all the matches played by FC Midtjylland in last season’s Champions League in addition to starting 26 games in the Danish Superliga.
The FC Ebedei product was one of the standout players as FC Midtjylland finished second in the final table and also helped them reach the semifinals of the Sydbank Pokalen.
The skillful player reportedly underwent a medical in the Danish capital Copenhagen during the week.
Onyeka will maintain his fitness by training with his current club FC Midtjylland before he links up with his new employers.
All things being equal the transfer fee won’t be an issue as Midtjylland and Brentford are both owned by Matthew Benham.
Onyeka was left out of The Wolves’ traveling party to Sweden on Saturday ahead of their first pre-season game against Allsvenskan table-toppers Malmo FF, fueling speculation that a transfer is on the cards.
