The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik AbdulGaniyy Agbotomokekere on Saturday turbaned Sheik Waliyulahi Sanusi as the new Chief Imam of Ido Local Government.
The turbaning ceremony, which was organized by the League of Imams & Mufasirs in conjunction with Ido Central Mosque, was held within the Secretariat, Ido Local Government area of Oyo State.
Speaking after he was turbaned, the new Chief Imam of the entire Ido Local Government, Sheik Waliyulahi Sanusi, expressed his gratitude to almighty Allah for the privilege accorded to him to attain the position of Chief Imam of Ido Local Government.
He said one of his objectives is to continue championing the course of uniting Muslim faithful across Ido Local Government.
The new Chief Imam of Ido added that it was the foundation laid by his predecessors, to ensure peace reins and ensuring that Islamic leaders live in harmony without discrimination.
Sheik Sanusi appreciated the efforts of Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Agbotomokekere and his council and Muslim leaders in the council area under the umbrella of Aare Musulumi of Ido Local Government, Alhaji Daood Hamzat for their fatherly role in his emergence as Chief Imam of Ido Local Government.
He also applauded the League of Imams and Alfas in Apete, Omi, Awotan, Akufo, Ologuneru and other environs within the council area, as well as other Muslim Ulamas for their cooperation.
While soliciting for the support of all and sundry, the Sheik Sanusi assured that he will continue to emulate the good foundation laid by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and others who are his role models.
Sheik Wuliyulahi Sanusi was a product of Arabic Institute of Nigeria (Mahdul Arabiy, Elekuro), where he gained advanced knowledge in Arabic after he had performed Walimatul Quran in 2002.
He graduated in 2010 and started working as an Arabic teacher. He became Khaleefa of his late father, who was also the Chief Imam of Ido, Alhaji Abdulhammed Akanmu Sanusi, who died in 2008.
Because of his efforts in ensuring unity within the family and imparting Islamic knowledge on the people, Sheik Adekola was made to succeed late Alhaji Olamini who died in 2013 as Mufasir of Ido Local Government by the elders in the Central Mosque and Muslim Ulamas in the council area.
