Pro-Sunday Igboho Protesters Dispersed By Police

Heavily armed policemen have dispersed a protest by supporters of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho in Ibadan against his arrest in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

The protesters were said to have marched to Soka bus stop along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway where they sang and demanded the release of Igboho

Residents said the protesters, who were armed with placards bearing various inscriptions, called on the international community to fight for Igboho’s release.

It was gathered the supporters sang repeatedly, warning the Federal Government not to kill Igboho.

The protest, which grounded traffic in the area, started about 1.50pm, making motorists to take alternative routes, residents said.

According to a source, the policemen came in about four patrol vans and a car.

They shot in the air and chased away the protesters.

Oyo police spokesman Adewale Osifeso was unavailable as at press time.
