Nigeria’s Super Eagles star Simeon Nwankwo is set to complete a move to the Italian top-flight side, Salernitana from Crotone on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for €6m.
According to reports on Sky Italia per Football Italia, the newly-promoted Serie A side have sealed the deal for the versatile goal poacher and he is expected to earn €1m (₦480m) a year and a sign-on fee while Crotone will also get 10% of future sales.
The 29-year-old, simply called Simy by his many admirers, has been a target for The Garnets all summer as they prepare for life in Italy’s top-flight for the first time in 23 years.
It’s not hard to see why they’ve pulled all the stops to get the former Gil Vicente star after he scored 20 league goals in Italy’s top-flight last season.
Simy, who made his international debut in a 1–1 draw against the DR Congo in May 2018, achieved this incredible feat in a Crotone team with just five Serie A wins all season.
Salernitana will now hope Simy can replicate the same form as they prepare to compete with the best this season.
