Yoruba Youths Mourn Demise Of Sen Durojaiye

The Grand Council of Yoruba Youth has joined others to mourn the foremost Leader of National Democratic Coalition(NADECO) and Afenifere, Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye.

The group described him as ever progressive statesman.

This is contained in a condolence message issued by the President-General of the Council, Comrade AWA Bamiji, which was made available to newsmen, yesterday, in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

Comrade Awa, in the statement said “With heavy hearts but with total submission to the will of Almighty God, we painfully announce the death of a Prominent National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) Chieftain and the Acting Leader of Afenifere Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba, who doubled as the immediate past Chairman of Nigeria’s Communication Commission (NCC), Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye.

“He took over as Acting Leader of Afenifere last year after the death of Senator Ayo Fasanmi, which occurred recently. He passed on early hours of Today at age of 88 in Lagos State.

“He was the immediate Past Chairman Nigeria’s Communication Commission (NCC) and played a prominent role during the NADECO struggles by waging war against successful military Juntas towards the entrenchment of Democracy in Nigeria.

“He was a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Ogun East between 1999 to 2003.

“He will surely be missed by the Civil Society, Traditional, Religious and Political Classes in Nigeria”
