The ancient town of Erijiyan -Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government of Ekiti State has installed a new High Chief as a major actor in the Olohan-in- Council, the highest ruling body of the town and he is High Chief Akindele Ojo Adelakun 1.
Speaking at the installation ceremony in his palace in Erijiyan Ekiti, the Olohan of Erijiyan Oba Oluwadare Omoseebi Agunsoye ll, enjoined the new Odigbo to be committed to his responsibilities as a major custodian of all Chieftaincy installation and tradition on behalf of the Kabiyesi.
The newly installed Odigbo of Erijiyan High Chief Akindele Ojo is the first person to be installed as Odigbo from Adelakun lineage and he succeeded the late High Chief Festus Alade who died about a year ago.
At the end of the seven days isolation, the new high Chief danced round the town as well as paid homage to other traditional places.
The newly installed Odigbo will also again move to another nine days isolation on another date to be announced before final iwuye ceremony where every son and daughter of Erijiyan will wine and dine.
One of the major traditional functions of Odigbo of Erijiyan is the installation of all new chiefs as the most traditional confidant of the Olohan of Erijiyan.
Dignitaries that witnessed the installation included Elder Yemi Alade, a retired Permanent Secretary, Odunayo Alade, High Chief Jide Awe Abatiba, former APC Chairman, Ekiti State, High Chief Obi Ogundare Orisawe Princes Sola Adetule, Sunday Adetule, Tayo Adetule and Taye Adetule, virtually all chiefs in the town and many others.
