First Year On The Throne: Oluyin Of Iyin Ekiti To Honour Lawan, Others

The Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye is set to celebrate his first post-coronation anniversary – the event will expectedly be witnessed by the Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan and many other prominent Nigerians.

Addressing a press conference held at his Palace in Iyin Ekiti over the weekend where he unveiled the weeklong activities, the monarch who publicly announced his decision to celebrate his one year coronation anniversary told the press that the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan and six other prominent Nigerians have been selected to be honoured with different chieftaincy titles during the course of the activities marking the anniversary.

Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye also listed other dignitaries to be honoured at the event to include an indigene of Iyin Ekiti Kingdom and the former Director General (DG), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Johnson Bamidele Olawumi and his Israeli Wife; Him Hille and Wife; Engineer Ayodeji Adeosun and Barrister Veronica Safia Ndanusa among others.

The Traditional Ruler who spoke alongside the Secretary of the Oluyin in Council, Chief Opeyemi Arije noted that the town has witnessed tremendous peace and development in the last one year of his reign.

Chief Opeyemi Arije who doubles as the Secretary to the Local Organizing Committee of the Anniversary in his words said “we are witnessing a new dimension to Obaship in the town”.

In his own submission, Arije commended the Kabiyesi, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye for giving a facelift to the palace by providing office accommodation for the Oluyin-in-Council and a mini conference hall where guests can be received.

Speaking further, Arije also praised the Oluyin for helping to facilitate and commission five motorized boreholes donated by the indigenes and for supporting the creation of Iyin Ekiti LCDA and equipping its Secretariat as well as ensuring that the only bank in the town reopened six (6) months after it was attacked and robbed by armed robbers”.

Highlighting other activities marking his one year coronation anniversary, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye stated that, aside honouring dignitaries with chieftaincy titles, there would also be a N500 million launching of the Palace Development Fund, with regular medical  and optical checks, treatments and surgery for the people as well as football competition among others.

The Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye used the opportunity to call on the sons and daughters of the town both at home and abroad to always contribute their quotas to the development of the town.
