A member of the House of Representatives in Ekiti State, Hon. Femi Bamisile has charged the youths of the state to take sporting activities seriously, as it is one of the tools for solving restlessness and insecurity in the country. 

He further stated that the game of football is a unifying factor that unifies youths together irrespective of age or creed.

According to him, “when the world is at war and when there is a football game, everybody unifies together. It does not matter what country it is -whether the United States of America or Russia.

The federal lawmaker stated this during the grand finale of the maiden edition of Honourable Femi Bamisile football competition (BAFEM’s) at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti during the weekend.

Speaking, Honourable Femi Bamisile stated that he was compelled to organize the football competition in order reduce restiveness and laxity among youths especially in the time of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

He, however, reiterated his commitment to continue to sponsor the football competition on an annual basis considering the impressive participation of the Ekiti youths in the maiden edition.

In the football competition, Ikere Ekiti FC emerged as the winner of the male category after defeating Are Ekiti FC with 2 goals to 1 while the Ekiti Queen FC also walloped the Ekiti Queen Bees FC 1 – 0 to lift the trophy in the female category.

He further admonished parents not to discourage their children from participating in sporting activities, but to encourage and give them rallying supports in other to become accomplished sporting icons like as Ronaldo, Messi.
