An All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in Ekiti State, Otunba Demola Popoola has expressed his readiness to collaborate with the state’s government in ensuring that the forthcoming National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) to be hosted by the state government is successful.
Popoola made the statement during the one-year coronation anniversary of Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye and conferment of Chieftaincy titles on eminent Nigerians at Iyin Ekiti recently.
Speaking, Popoola commended the state’s Governor Kayode Fayemi for the numerous developmental projects he has initiated to the state.
He said, “The Executive Governor of Ekiti State has built the foundation, I will only be coming to work on it and complete the house”.
He, however, reiterated his commitment to ensure further development of tourism in the state and to establish cultural centers in each of the 16 local governments across the state.
“Ekiti state has a lot of untapped mineral resources; I am looking forward to setting up a cottage industry in the state where numerous unemployed youths and graduates will be gainfully employed”.
The APC gubernatorial aspirant also stated of his plans to organize a 50 million endowment fund towards the end of the year which would be targeted at empowering the youths of the state to be self-reliant.
“I am planning to develop the talents in Ekiti state to be the best. I will sponsor them to be able to match up with their colleagues abroad. We will set ODEP Football Club and it will stand as an entity that can compete and face any team in Nigeria”.
