The assault case between popular broadcaster and the General Manager of Jamz FM Radio, Mr Tony Rowland Awobode (Don Tee) and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of the Iyaganku Police Station, CSP Akintunde Oyeniran has been finally settled amicably.
The assault issue caused so much friction between the Oyo State Police Command and the media community after the news broke out on Monday evening.
The duo of CSP Oyeniran and Don Tee had physical and verbal ‘battle’ on Sunday 19th September 2021 in the evening at Iyaganku Junction, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.
The matter according to the Oyo State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso has been amicably settled between the parties by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of the State CID Ibadan, DCP Akinwale Abbas after the intervention of the State Police Commissioner, CP Ngozi Onadeko on Wednesday.
“Both parties met in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police on Wednesday, and the matter was amicably settled after which both of them and the DC came to the office of the commissioner at Eleyele for final peace meeting, and they both exchange pleasantries and took photographs”, the PPRO.
The General Manager of Jamz FM, when contacted also confirmed that the issue has been amicably settled while thanking his colleagues that rallied round him during his ordeal for their good spirit of comradeship while urging them to sheath their swords.
“Yes, higher authorities have intervened and the matter has been amicably resolved, media and Police have always been good partners in progress, but I will only say it is unfortunate that such a thing happened to me as I always observe precautions against all forms of lawlessness,” said Don Tee.
