The Oluyin Of Iyin Ekiti Kingdom, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye who was installed exactly a year ago has no doubt recorded some notable and remarkable achievements since he was crowned as king of this elitist Ekiti town.
He was officially installed not just as a King, but a First-Class Yoruba Oba by the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi after he was able to scale through a very tough contest involving six other candidates who equally jostled for the enviable position.
After his Primary School Education Oba Ajakaye proceeded for his Secondary School Education at the Christ School in Ado Ekiti. He got his School Certificate (WASC) and his High School Certificate between 1971 to 1975. He went further to attend the University of Ife in Ile-Ife and graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Social Sciences with 2.2 grade between 1978 to 1980. He added to his own credit a Post Graduate Diploma Certificate in Financial Management (PGDFM) from 1980 to 1983 from the same Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife in Osun State and thereafter went to the University of Ilorin in Ilorin, Kwara State from 1987 to 1989 to study another course.
Between July and December 1998, he enrolled again at the Shedicas Computers and Business Institute in Lagos to study Diploma in Computer Data Processing and Management Information.
The love for work and education earned Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye, the membership and several awards, honour and recognition from many Professional bodies including the Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM), Associate of the Certified Pension Institute (ACIP), Staff of Hengrade Ventures in September 2020 located at Iworoko Ekiti road in Ekiti State as the Chief Executive Officer.
It can be said here that this man of many parts has been hardworking from the time he was a youth – he was made to supervise borehole drilling; treatment of plants, it’s design and installations; GeoTechnics and Environmental Studies among other things. He was also made to engage in janitorial, cleaning services and general supplies as a Chief Executive Officer between March 2009 to October 2011.
His experience at the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) headquarters located at Ikeja in Lagos equally earned him his position as the Director of Administration whose duties was to oversee the formulation and implementation of all policy issues affecting staff recruitments, appointments, promotions, upgrading, conversion, staff welfare, incentives, discipline, transfer, deployment, staff training, manpower, development, medical services, pension, administration, procurement and due process. With his numerous roles and duties while still in active service at the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), it was indeed very easy for him to rise to the echelon of his career as the Acting Managing Director (MD) between April 2008 to March 2009.
Other positions he occupied at the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria included the Director of Operations, the General Manager in charge of Public Affairs, Corporate and Community Relations.
Also, to his credit, he has worked at other places like the Consolidated Alliance Nigeria Limited, Fountain Hotel at Trade Fair Complex in Ado Ekiti as the Managing Director. He is the brain behind the establishment of Quarry Business in Ekiti State. At the level of E-11, an Ekiti based Organisation, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye was in charge of the Management of investment portfolios from April 2007 to March 2008.
He was also involved with the Company known as Sight and Sound Ltd; as well as Global Polls Consult Ltd.; Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Ondo State Civil Service as an Auditor, A Classroom Teacher at the Lagos State School Management Board among many other places.
It is also on record that Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye is not a local person. He has travelled far and wide to many great cities of the world for different International Conferences and Seminars such as London, Florida in the United States of America, Nairobi in Kenya, Gaborone in Botswana, Miami among others.
That Iyin Ekiti has been experiencing a new breeze of peace is as a result of the ‘melody’ being produced by Oba Ajakaye for he is, in all ways showing that the welfare of his people remains paramount. He cooperates often with the likes of Chief Adeniyi Adebayo, former governor of Ekiti State and others on several issues concerning the town. He has also been focused and has continued to reach out to the high and mighty and is not leaving any stone unturned to draw attention to his town, Iyin Ekiti.
Of course, this was aptly demonstrated when he succeeded in bringing the creamiest in both the social and political world in Nigeria including the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan to witness his first-year anniversary as the ruler of Iyin Ekiti.
