Rui Vitória, Spartak Moscow manager has hailed Nigeria international Victor Moses following his impressive performance in Thursday’s Europa League game against Premier League side, Leicester City.

The Russian side played a 1-1 draw with the Foxes at the King Power Stadium in front of over 30,000 fans.

The former Chelsea winger scored the first goal of the night after he finished off a move he started himself to open the scoring for Spartak as he got his header past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the 51st minute before Daniel Amartey levelled the score seven minutes later to earn the host a point.

The former Super Eagles player was a constant threat to Brendan Rodgers’ side and proved a hard nut to crack as he confidently stopped all Leicester’s attacks on the left-hand side.

His only blemish of the night following a fine performance was the penalty he gave away after a reckless challenge on Ademola Lookman in the 75th minute but he got a let-off as Jamie Vardy failed to convert from 12 yards with both teams settling for a draw.

Spartak are currently sitting bottom of the Group C standings with four points and three points behind Napoli, who sit top of the group.

Speaking after the game, Vitória while analysing his team’s performance, spoke highly of the Nigerian.

“Victor Moses has big quality and plays in these kinds of games with freedom,” the manager was quoted as saying on the UEFA website.

“In this game, we didn’t have too many opportunities, so we needed to be strong when we attacked. Victor finished very well.”

Spartak Moscow face Napoli on matchday five after this month’s international break before their final group game against Legia Warsaw in December.
