Veterans in the Nigerian music industry have been selected as judges for the first edition of the upcoming ThrillerBandz Theatre Liveband music challenge.
The event scheduled to hold on Friday, 17th and Saturday 18th December is being organised by Evergreen Musical Company in collaboration with the National Theatre with an endorsement by the Lagos State Government.
The event, a first of its kind will feature 50 live bands from different ethnic backgrounds in a music contest with each band staging their own original song with the song of a popular Nigerian music icon.
According to Bimbo Esho, “The event was put together to ensure the continuous relevance of livebands in the state and to encourage originality among upcoming Nigerian musicians”.
Expected at the event includes Yinka Davies a pioneer judge at different music contest including the popular Nigerian Idol music reality show.
Stella Monye, the composer of the hit song, ‘Oko Mi Ye’ and Dayo Kujore a veteran Juju musician with over 40 years experience in the industry are also going to be there.
Equally expected to grace the music contest are other young and veteran artiste among whom are popular music producer Laolu Akins who will be anchoring mentorship talk during the program.
According to the organizers, the event will be held in a relaxed environment with unique ambience, colourful lightnings, maximum security and under strict COVID-19 compliance.
