Mr. Debo Ranti Ajayi (DRA), has joined others in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State to declare his intention to contest during the 2022 gubernatorial election in the state.Â
He made his declaration during a meeting with the party supporters in his ward at his Emure-Ekiti country home.
Speaking, Mr. Ajayi stated that he needed to inform the people because of their support towards his move to become the next governor of the state, disclosing that he would obtain his nomination form in due course.
Speaking on what the people of the state should expect from him if elected, he submitted, “We are no longer going to develop Ekiti on the basis of borrowed money, we are going to attract real investors to Ekiti state. Our people should vote for a governor that will lead the development of Ekiti, such that private sector will become the main source of employment in Ekiti so that people can start having job security not based on benevolence of any governor”.
The aspirant further promised that he would be a governor that will be very accessible to the people having had ten years of continuous residence in the state.
He, however, urged participants to be optimistic that President Muhammadu Buhari would assent to the new electoral law, which would allow for exclusive right of the entire party men and women to elect the candidate of their choice through the option A4 system.
Speaking, the Ward 5 Chairman of the party in Emure, Mr. Ayo Bogunde, stated that they are optimistic of the chances of the governorship aspirant, stating that if elected as the governor of the state, he would make life more meaningful for the people of Emure-Ekiti and the state as a whole.
Similarly, the Director of Debo Ranti Ajayi (DRA) campaign team, Mr. Julius Olujobi, stated that the outcome of the meeting was good and timely considering the large turnout of people at the ward, describing it as a good omen and an indication of the acceptance of the personality of the governorship aspirant.
