Nigeria international and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will undergo check-ups on Thursday and Friday to determine his readiness to return to action after surgery for facial fractures recently.
CalcioNapoli24 has reported that doctors will on those two days ascertain how well he has recovered from the injury he suffered in November.
Osimhen has been training on his own while wearing a protective mask.
The doctors are expected to soon give the striker the green light to resume full training with the rest of the Napoli squad.
He is expected to be one of the last players to join up with the Eagles squad for the AFCON on account of his fitness situation.
The recuperating Osimhen was on Saturday named on a 28-man squad for next month’s AFCON even as the NFF President Amaju Pinnick said his federation would do everything under the ambit of the law to ensure the release of the Super Eagles talisman.
“Statutory or politically, we would ensure we have all our players for the AFCON in Cameroon,” Pinnick told NationSport.” Of course, there is no team that wouldn’t want all its best players but what does the law says about it?
“What does the statues say about it ( release of the players)?
“Of course, Osimhen want to play at the AFCON and we would ensure his availability for the Super Eagles in Cameroon,” added Pinnick.
