Popular stand-up comedian, Taiwo Olusanya, MC Obama has denied the rumour making the rounds that the injury he recently sustained on his left leg which has necessitated his usage of crutches publicly was because he has been mimicking iconic musician, Dr Yinka Ayefele, mon.
Obama, who spoke with PMParrot over the weekend told the story of how he injured his left leg.
“Forget about what our people are saying online and offline about my injury”, said the extremely creative comedian.
“The injury has nothing to do with my popular jokes about my Oga, Dr Yinka Ayefele. God knows that I make jokes about him generally and not strictly because he is on the wheel chair. Moreover, I make jokes about our fathers, Chief Commander, Dr Ebenezer Obey and the King of World beats, Dr Sunny Ade and other too. Even, Dr Ayefele saw me a week after the domestic accident and he wished me well. Ayefele did not do anything to me o!
“You see, people are free to make jokes about me also. It is a creative industry and we are in it to entertain and make our audience feel good and happy.”
While recalling how he got his leg injury, Obama said “It was about a week after the burial of socialite, Diran Ibironke, Dudu Heritage. I attended this family wedding somewhere at Imalefalafia in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.
“About an hour after I got to the event, two of the guests started a fight and I a stood up to bring about peace. The next thing I found out was that I was on the floor.
“It was like a dream. From the venue of the event, I went to the hospital and I was told that I would have to stay indoors for three months for the leg to get healed.
“Naturally, I objected to this because I already got bookings to entertain at major parties. I had to beg and plead with the doctors to find a short cut for me to be able to move around.
“Initially too, I didn’t want to make my health situation a public issue. So, I was dodging friends and well-wishers.
“Along the line, some people even carried rumours that I have used my leg to do ‘juju’, haba!”
Obama, however assured his fans all over the world that his is now moving around with the leg with minimum support from his crutches and other props.
The Ijebu born entertainer also spoke about the lesson he got from this experience – “I now know that it is best to keep away from violent people.”
He added “it has not been a funny experience but I have been making my appearances at different shows. I thank my wife, my children, my other family members, my church leaders, my friends, my fans and others. God bless you all for believing in me. In the new year, by God’s grace, Obama is coming up with more creative ideas. Watch out.”
