Glo announced that the competition will be run for 13 weeks and will produce a group that will represent Nigeria at the global contest which will hold in Japan in 2023.

According to the organisers, a total of N84 million prize money and an opportunity to represent Nigeria at the global stage for winners at the world’s biggest hip-hop dance show will be up for grabs after 13 weeks.

Speaking of the event, Globacom’s Communications Director, Andre Beyers, announced details of the sponsorship of the competition saying it is one of the numerous ways Globacom has continued to make an impact on Nigerian society.

He said the show would offer unlimited opportunities for Nigerian youth to pursue their passion.

“In line with our commitment to promoting the Nigerian entertainment industry and youth talent development across the country, we are excited to unleash the unlimited potential of Nigerian dancers and provide the platform for them to showcase their abilities on the world stage,” Beyers stated.

The show is set to begin after auditions which began a few weeks back and across six states, Lagos, Kaduna, Benin, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Abuja.

Judges for the show were also revealed to the media. They include local and international dance legends such as Gidnasty (USA), Menno (Netherlands), Manuela (Germany), Nigeria’s Poco Lee, Pinky Debbie, Izzy Odigie, Big Flo, Maxbuck, Dunamis, Franc Okwara, JC Jedor, and Poxy (Cameroon), would feature as judges throughout the show.

The CEO, House of Royalty, and Project Coordinator, Jolomi Kendaboh, who also spoke to the media, noted that Glo Battle of the Year is the preliminary to the yearly International Battle of the Year breakdance championship. “We are confident that with the backing and full support of Globacom, we would take the standard of the dance competition to the next level”, he stated.
