It is no longer news that former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala is no more but there were factors that served as warnings to him, his family members and followers before his untimely demise.

PMParrot’s findings can reveal that a few of his followers used to plead with him to take things easy because of his medical condition but the ‘loud’ majority kept nudging him to ‘fire on’ so that he would remain ‘relevant’ on the political arena in Nigeria.

One of our respondents informed “It was a sad thing that he had to die at this time. Those of us who used to admonish him to take things easy were in the tiniest minority. He has had issues with blood pressure and his legs had issues too.

“Since last year, he has had problem climbing stairs unaided. Everybody saw this and they kept urging him to be more active on the political playing field.

“Yes, we all have a date with death but some of the times, if we obey our doctors, we may stand the chance of postponing our date of death.

“However, most of us on the political scene will never learn. We want to remain political godfathers and godmothers till death, the ultimate comes unexpectedly to take us away.

“I must give it to our Oga, he lived a good life and he was well loved because he absolutely believed in helping to lift people up. He had special sentiments concerning this. If you have challenges, all you need is gain access to him. He will do something for you, no matter how small. He was a good man in deeds.”

Another respondent informed that the late political icon was in Abuja for an event and later had series of political meetings.

Continued our respondent “He flew back to Ilorin on Tuesday and was driven to Ogbomoso. He complained of more pains and he took his drugs before going to sleep only to be found in his room on Wednesday morning, stone dead.

“I can also tell you that he was being expected in Ibadan on Wednesday, the day he died for another round of political meetings and consultations.”

Meanwhile, an official statement by his son, Olamijuwonlo has been obtained by PMParrot.

The statement reads: “With humble acceptance of the will of God, we announce the passing of our grandfather, father, husband and leader, His Excellency, Otunba (Dr.) Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, JP, psc, which occurred on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

“Baba died peacefully in Ogbomoso at the age of 71.

“Omo Iya Alaro will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Baba.

“Burial arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.”
