The Ecumenical Youth Association has warned MURIC Chairman, Professor Ishaq Akintola to desist from his constant attacks on Christian States and their Governors.

This was released in a statement by the association chairman, Daboikiabo Warmate, while warning MURIC and its leader to desist from talking down on Christian communities and refrain from speeches capable of inciting ethnic and religious war in the country.

The group further condemned the incessant attack on four Christian governors namely, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Taraba State Governor, Architect Darius Ishaku, Rivers State Governor, Dr Nyesom Wike, and Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

“The statement of Prof. Akintola is an inciting and attention seeking false claim. These governors are amongst the best receptive and performing governors in Nigeria, not just in interfaith inclusion but in religious tolerance”.

The group also commends Governor Darius Ishaku for appointing Muslims as his cabinet members and Engr. Seyi Makinde for maintaining the status quo regarding the hijab issue in his state.

The group further lauded Governor Wike’s for sponsoring Rivers Muslims to Hajj yearly and Governor Samuel Ortom for accommodating Muslim communities in his State.

The group further accused MURIC of ignoring what Christians in some parts of the North go through as they were not given land to build churches and are politically ostracized.

The group, however, urged Professor Ishaq Akintola to be objective in his dealings with Christian States while encouraging the four States Governors to continue their good works and ignore the words of the MURIC chairman.
