The present Ibadan finest boxers, Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola recorded a first round knocked out against Charlemagne Anicet from Benin Republic in the lightweight category while the fire-hitter, Habeeb Oladeji popularly known as ‘Ige’ also defeated Sikiru Akintayo Akingbade ‘The killer’ with an unanimous decision in a National Bantam weight Challenge.
Other bouts of the day also saw Akinsanya Rophiat from Lagos defeating Blessing Godwin in a unanimous decision in the women’s category while Adebayo Imoleayo knocked out Amanze Chukuma in the fourth bout of the night as Kazeem Lawal also got a second round knockout against Adeniyi Segun.
Jamiu Akande A.K.A Sunshine got a victory against a hard fighting Mutiu ‘TATO’ Lawal via unanimous decision while another stylish and promising boxer from Ibadan, Ayobami ‘Latest’ Azeez knocked out Atoyebi Olalekan in the second round.
The President of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, (NBBofC) Dr. Rafiu Oladipo earlier on Saturday, after the weight-in event organized a seminar, where he taught the boxers and their trainers boxing technicalities and positive behavioral patterns.
The Secretary of NBBofC, Remi Aboderin in his reaction after the show commended Ibadan boxing fans for their good comportment, while lauding the promoter for organizing a decent and well organized boxing show.
Speaking in the same vein, Sola Ayodele, popularly known as Sola Ford, the CEO of Core Afrique Boxing Promotion, (COABOX) the boxing promotion firm that organized the show thanked all and sundry that contributed to the success of the boxing show held inside the indoor hall of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-ado Ibadan.
He, however, promised a regular boxing show to further regularly engage the Ibadan based boxers which will enhance their boxing records.
