One of the leading aspirants for the House of Representatives ticket in Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in Ibadan, Oyo State under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Abiodun Raufu has obtained the nomination form to participate in the party primary scheduled for May 12, 2022.
The form was paid for by a group, Friends of Abiodun Raufu (FAR), made up of friends of the aspirant Nigeria and beyond.
The spokesman of the FAR, Mr. Bari Sanni, a chartered accountant said the group feel honoured to have been given the privilege to pay for the form, adding that Dr. Raufu could have paid for it by himself but we insisted that we would pay because it’s heartwarming that someone of Dr. Raufu’s stature has selflessly volunteered to participate in partisan politics in the belief that the people of Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency and Nigerians, in general, deserve quality representation from men and women of integrity and vision.
The delegation that was tasked with obtaining the form at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja was led by the former chairman of Lagelu North LCDA, Honourable Asimiyu Babalola. Other staunch PDP stalwarts in the delegation include Barrister Adenike Yusuff, a supervisory councillor in Ido local government, Ibadan, former PDP chairman in Akinyele local government, Kola Badmus, Mr. Ademola Amoo, Mr. Kazeem Olanrewaju (alias Okilo), chairman, Lagelu PDP ward 1, Temitope Ayanlade, chairman, Lagelu PDP ward 3, Gafaar, Oyerinde, former secretary of Lagelu local government PDP ward one, Kunmi Sanusi, Asejere Women’s wing leader, Mrs. Olaide Ibiyemi, Rilwan Araola, Comrade Tijani Usman, Adewuyi Saheed, Adebanke Olajide and several other members of the party in the federal constituency and beyond.
Dr. Raufu, who is an Assistant Professor at Southern University and A&M College in the United States of America in his reaction thanked the leaders and stakeholders in Akinyele/ Lagelu federal for supporting him and sharing his vision of speedy transformational development of the constituency. He also thanked his friends and well-wishers across the world for their overwhelming support in the bid to bring about a paradigm shift to the political economy of Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency, Oyo State and Nigeria at a critical point in the history of the country.
Dr. Raufu, a former Editor of the Nigerian Tribune and ex-Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of National Mirror Newspapers, said, “my political aspiration is in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s transformative agenda and long term vision for the progress of Oyo State and Nigeria.”
