A chieftain of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), former deputy Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance and Budget in Oyo State, Abimbola Adekanmbi has described his political decision to run for the Oyo South senatorial seat as a deliberate act that is going to follow through irrespective of any future circumstance.
The APC stalwart made this declaration while featuring on a radio program tagged South/West Political Circuit aired on Fresh FM Ibadan on Saturday, where he reiterated his vow to vie for a ticket under APC to run for the senate come 2023 general election.
“When you make a decision to run for senate, it’s a deliberate decision and I’m going to follow through on that decision, I can’t settle for less, it’s the senate that I am going to run for and I am well prepared for it, and not having a flight of fancy”, said Bimadek, as he is popularly called by his admirers.
Adekambi, when asked if his ambition has received the blessing of the Ajimobi political dynasty, he explained that people behind the Ajimobi’s structure have weighed him and have given their blessings, saying there are many factors and factions that made up the Ajimobi dynasty.
His words: “If the incumbent senator is performing, I wouldn’t come out to run. I have so many connections and good track records that will be put to use in bringing Oyo South to be at par with its functional counterpart. I believe I am better equipped to represent the party and the people and transform the Oyo South senatorial district”.
“We have done many laudable things for indigent people of that constituency like giving students free JAMB forms every year. I was the first person in 2019 to partner with the technical university, I sent a hundred people to go and learn different trades and innovations there. Right now, there is an ongoing skills acquisition program exclusively for youths from Oyo South Senatorial district”.
Adekambi added that “we have nine local governments there and each of those local governments has different needs that are unique and peculiar to them and we know how to tackle those problems”.
