Our Parrots have been reliably informed that the demise of one of Africa’s most powerful monarchs, Oba (Dr) Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo was occasioned by the series of domestic accidents he had in the last 10 days.
According to a family source who spoke with our Parrots, the respected monarch first had a fall that led to the fracturing of his arm.
Said our source, “after falling down and breaking his arm, he was promptly attended to and the affected arm was secured with Plaster of Paris (POP).
“Two days later, he had another fall and broke his limb. This was when Chief Afe Babalola had to be called in and Baba was moved to Ado Ekiti to see specialists at Afe Babalola University’s teaching hospital.
“It was midnight on Friday that we got information that Kabiyesi passed on after the complications brought about by the fractures. You know he was not exactly a young man. We thank God for his life.”
Parrots also got information that the planned chieftaincy program meant to be held in honour of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila on April 27, 2022 has been naturally cancelled.
Said our source “All the elaborate plans for the chieftaincy event have been cancelled. Ebenezer Obey who was asked to be on the band stand will have to stand down. All those with the colourful ‘aso ebi’ for the event will have to wear their cloths somewhere else or at another time.”
Adeyemi who ruled for 52 years before his demise, is the longest-reigning Alaafin. He was aged 83.
