Popular Nigerian skit-maker and actor, Adebowale Adedayo aka Mr Macaroni, has urged celebrities to use their skills and fame to drive social change, especially in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The 29-year-old comedian made this known at the recently held Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive) in Lagos.
According to Mr Macaroni, though the primary function of entertainment is to amuse, there is a burden on entertainers to use their art to cause societal change.
“I am doing my part by using my art to call attention to things that need to be corrected in Nigeria. We must all do our part,” he said.
The comedian and activist, who was rumoured to have married his fellow skit maker, Kemi Ikuseedun aka Mummy Wa, said while some people may not find this form of art funny, its message has already been passed.
