As the contest for the Oyo South Senatorial seat in next year’s general election hots up, one of the hopefuls from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Adegboyega Adegoke has carpeted the ‘de-facto’ candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mogaji Olasunkanmi Tegbe saying he is a man with ‘no identity’.
According to Adegoke, who is the Aare Onibon Balogun of Ibadanland, “Tegbe is a controversial candidate. When he crossed from APC to PDP recently, my friends in the ruling party told me that they would vote against him.”
Chief Adegoke who used to be a PDP member and who is also the founder of Solution FM Radio Station gave all these submissions while featuring on a popular political programme broadcast live on Fresh 105.9fm in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State (and monitored by PMParrot) on Saturday morning.
While still talking about Mogaji Tegbe who is a respected professional, Adegoke said “You see, Tegbe does not have anything to offer. He does not have any political structure. This was clearly manifested when Dr Nureni Adeniran, the present SUBEB chairman in the state who was also eyeing the Oyo South Senatorial ticket had to ‘collapse’ his structure for Tegbe to use.
“Forget the political razzmatazz, does Tegbe know how to maintain a structure? Can he offer what he does not have? Does he know how Adeniran has been maintaining his people? See, whoever emerges as the candidate of APC for the senatorial district will easily defeat Tegbe”.
When asked if he would accept the result of the fast-approaching primary election that will produce APC’s candidate for the senatorial seat considering the fact that strong politicians like Senator Soji Akanbi, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli and others are also in the race, Adegoke said “of course, I will accept it only if the game is played fairly. There should not be any kind of hanky panky.”
