Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde, the present governor of Oyo State has been declared the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial primary election in the state.
Makinde polled 1,040 votes while his challenger, Azeem Gbolarumi, scored two votes.
The electoral event held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the capital city of the state.
The returning officer, Abdulahi Maibasira, declared Makinde the winner of the contest having scored the highest number of valid votes cast.
Makinde, while reacting to his victory, said he was overwhelmed by the support of the people while calling on them to support him to win the gubernatorial poll in 2023.
He also thanked the people of the state for trusting in him and his administration while vowing to continue to see to the infrastructural development of the state.
He also pledged to continue to pay salaries of workers as well as pensions of retirees.
Top shop politicians at the event included Ambassador Hazeem Arapaja, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Chief Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, Elder Wole Oyelese, Hon Hosea Agboola, Hon Wolekanle, Mogaji Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Hon Dare Adeleke, Peter Eledan, Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha, local government chairmen and several others.
