IGC Ready For Captain’s Inaugural Golf Tournament

All is now set as over 180 golfers are expected to feature in the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) Captain’s Inaugural tournament, scheduled for between 24th to 25th June, 2022.

The Chairman of the Inaugural committee, Barrister Idowu Salami disclosed this during a press briefing organized ahead of the event in Ibadan that the tournament, which will be used to usher in Tunji Oladosu as the new captain of the club, will also witness big social interactions between cream de la cream in the society that are expected at the event.

“The inaugural tournament is always organized to celebrate and usher in the Captain of the Ibadan Golf Club. When a new captain comes on board, it is in our tradition to celebrate him and golfers all over the country are expected to grace the occasion.

“The arrival, registration, cocktail is on Friday, June 24 while the tournament will snowball into closing ceremony and presentation of prizes on Saturday. The tournament will be an epoch-making event and players from Ikeja Golf Club, Ikoyi Golf Club, IBB Golf Club, Ibom Golf Club, Ekiti Club and host of others will be there,” Barrister Salami said.

Barrister Salami also revealed that the new Captain of the Ibadan golf club, Tunji Oladosu was nominated to complete the tenure of the past Captain Ola Ibironke popularly known as ‘Dudu Heritage’ who suddenly passed away before the completion of his tenure and he became a substantive captain by election.

He stated that the new financial year for 2022/2023 tenure began on 1st April 2022 and is expected to end on 31st March 2023.

Speaking in the same vein, Wale Osungbohun, the second vice Captain of IGC stated that the tournament will be full of fanfare, stating that the Ibadan golf club is known to be among the leading golf clubs in Nigeria. Other members of the tournament committee includes Otunba Abimbola Davis.
