The Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers has appealed to all political parties in the state to allow peace to reign before, during and after the conduct of the state’s gubernatorial election.
The Chairman, HRM Oba Ayodele Adejuwon, FCTI, stated this in a statement made available to PMParrot in Ado Ekiti on Friday.
He urged all the political parties in the state to abide by the rules of the game in order to ensure that the election is conducted in a free, fair and conducive environment.
He said, “No election is worth the blood of any Ekiti man. It will be a disservice for people to be killed, maimed just because we want to elect the people to occupy the governorship seat and other political seats, which is temporal.
“We, as custodians of culture and tradition as well as peace makers in our respective domains won’t tolerate any untoward action that could start bloodshed in Ekiti State. Let our youths desist from any acts that can disrupt the peace we are enjoying in our state because of peanuts they are being given”.
He, however, urged politicians in the state to relate in the spirit of sportsmanship while appealing to INEC and security agencies to be more active and alert to their responsibilities.
