The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ekiti State has warned the National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) supervising Ogun, Ondo and Osun, Professor Kunle Ajayi to stay clear of the state’s gubernatorial election scheduled to hold this Saturday.
The Public Relation Officer of the party, Mr Gani Salau issued the warning in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.
“We urge the University Don to distance himself from the conduct of the election. We know he is an Ekiti man but his job as INEC National Electoral Commissioner indicates that he is to remain neutral. He should allow INEC officials saddled with the conduct of the election to do their job without being influenced so that the votes of Ekiti electorate will count.
“The whole world is watching us and we urge INEC Chairman, Professor Mammood Yakubu to keep his integrity and should not succumb to the pressure of the APC Government in Ekiti State”
Prof. Kunle Ajayi is a professor of political science and was formerly the Dean, Faculty of Social sciences, Ekiti State University before his appointment as a National Electoral Commissioner of INEC.
