The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Shehu Musa Garba, and the party’s presidential candidate for 2023 general election, Adewole Adebayo, have urged the electorate in Ekiti State to vote for the party’s candidate, Segun Oni, on Saturday.
The duo said the people have many reasons to vote Oni having been allegedly subjected to hardship by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Garba and Adebayo spoke in Ado-Ekiti yesterday during the SDP mega rally. They described Oni as a ‘revolution that will change the economic and social facets of the state if elected’.
According to Garba, the APC and PDP do not deserve the people’s votes ‘having allegedly debased Ekiti through massive looting’; they should be rejected on Saturday, he added.
The national chair noted that not voting for Oni will be a great loss for Ekiti because ‘he has a workable blueprint to launch the state on the surest path of sustainable socio-economic growth and development’.
“He is humble and ultimately very competent. He is a man of peace, unity and love. He had served you and you know him to be truthful and honest. I am assuring you that you won’t regret if you decide to re-elect him.”
Adebayo said Oni had proven his mettle as a competent, servant-master, truthful, governor during his reign aborted reign which was the happiest moment in Ekiti’s political history.
“We must change this APC by voting them out on Saturday and 2023 general elections; they have nothing to offer. They are a bundle of liars and looters. Nigeria has failed under them.
“By next year, we must have a rethink in this country. With Oni as governor, pension and salary will be paid as and when due. Oni is a man of character, competence and honesty…”
Oni promised to banish poverty by paying workers’ pension, gratuity and deductions, saying his presence in the race has become a threat to APC.
“You all know that I have the capacity to banish poverty, unemployment, kidnapping by deploying relevant technology and expertise to fight crime and economic deprivation,” he added.
