The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has approved the deployment of 9,747 of its personnel to the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State ahead of its gubernatorial election.
Speaking, the Assistant National Commandant, ACG Haruna Lawal stated that necessary machineries have been put in place to provide effective security for INEC officials before, during and after the election.
He further urged the command personnel to be professional and apolitical in the discharge of their duties, while urging them to relate well with other security agencies during the election.
He listed the units of the NSCDC deployed to include the SWAT, Female SWAT, ARM Squad, Anti Terrorism among others.
The commandant added that personnel from Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Kwara have been drafted to support the Ekiti State command in beefing up security for the polls and to protect critical National assets in all the 16 local government areas of the state.
