How JSS Student Was Swept Away By Flood In Ondo

Search is on for the rescue or remains of a Junior Secondary School student, Motunrayo John who was swept away by flood in Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State.

Motunrayo is a JSS Three student of Mount Carmel College in the town.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 4.30pm after a heavy downpour that lasted four hours.

Sources said the victim was being taken home by her father on a motorcycle when the incident occurred.

A witness said: “It was when her father was returning her home that the incident occurred on River Dada bridge

“The velocity of the flood which had spilled on to the road made the bike to fall and in the process, both the victim and her father fell.

“Unfortunately, the father was able to come out but the girl was swept away by the flood.

“We are still searching for the girl.”

Ondo Police spokesman, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, could not be reached for comments.
