After his lads pipped Cote d’Ivoire 3-1 to book their place in the final of the on-going WAFU B U-17 Championships, Golden Eaglets coach Uduka Ugbade has expressed confidence that they are not afraid of any team that they will face in the final of the tournament.

The Golden Eaglets with the win over the Ivorians have secured their place at the African U-17 Championships and Ugbade is not giving up on the team’s chance of clinching the trophy in Cape Coast, Ghana.

“Any of the two teams is very strong and I believe Ghana was much stronger than the Niger Republic when we played against the group stage but we were lucky to have converted all our chances against them,” the former Nigeria international said in the post-match conference. “We saw Burkina Faso beating Cote d’Ivoire and we saw that they are much more tactical.

“Ghana has a handful of Burkina Faso, I think any of them that is possible for us to meet, we will try and compete very well against them, and most probably the luck will be on our side,” Ugbade noted.

Yet the captain of the victorious 1985 Golden Eaglets has expressed displeasure over the team’s lackadaisical approach despite winning their three successive matches at the on-going competition.

“This team is not amazing yet because most of the things I am expecting from the players have not been done to the best of my knowledge and have not been carried out specifically,” he further explained. “They still make some mistakes in the passes but I am very happy for the job they have done so far to this point; and managing to win matches.”
