Olugbenga, son of former governor of Old Oyo State, Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo has said that there is no iota of truth in the rumour making the rounds that his 87-year-old father is dead.
In a telephone conversation with PMParrot on Saturday morning, the London/Lagos based businessman said he was still in touch with the great African scholar.
“Yes, Doctor is critically ill but he is still alive. He is presently being attended to at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, I beseech Nigerians to continue to pray for him. We still need him around for some more years.”
However, the Olunloyo Family has officially sent out a statement to debunk the rumour of the death of the great mathematician.
The statement:
Official Statement from the OLUNLOYO Family
To all Nigerians and Well Wishers
Dear All
We appreciate the public for the interest shown in the wellbeing of our father, Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo OLUNLOYO (aka VOSO).
In the tradition of the OLUNLOYO family of Ibadanland, and based on the principles of integrity, inclusion, and openness upon which our revered father VOSO has always stood, we would like to inform the Nigerian public that we would greatly appreciate your prayers for our father who is presently in the ICU at UCH Ibadan.
As a public figure, we believe that his condition should not be hidden from the Nigerian public who have a right to know about their leaders.
Please accept our most sincere thanks for your all concern and goodwill.
May God Almighty bless you all and our dear country Nigeria.
Signed: The Family
